CITAC completes a series of studies on fuel oil use in sub Saharan Africa
Fuel oil markets are completely different to clean products. Fuel oil is used by a few large customers such as power or cement plants. The CITAC study shows that there are only about 100 buyers of fuel oil in Africa compared to millions of buyers of gasoline and diesel fuel. The study lists all the major buyers and the quality of fuel they buy as well as the major African exporters with the quantities and qualities produced. The study also looks at the way fuel is priced in Africa and how Platts quotations have evolved as the international market has changed.
