CITAC participates in UNEP meetings on product quality improvement in Africa

CITAC at UNEP meetings

Elitsa Georgieva participated in the UNEP North African lead phase out conference in Tunis on 14th to 16th August. The meeting was arranged by the UNEP in association with the Tunisian Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development under their PCFV initiative to encourage the North African countries that still use lead in their gasoline (Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia) to make plans to cease to do so.

Gary Still participated in an East African meeting in Nairobi arranged by the UNEP on behalf of the World Bank’s BAQ (Better Air Quality) programme. The meeting was attended by over 100 participants from 11 East African countries including several Ministers. The Policy Session, held on 21 and 22 October, identified the main urban air pollution issues and developed policy recommendations to address these challenges. The Ministerial Session, held on 23 October adopted the Eastern Africa Regional Framework Agreement on Air Pollution (Nairobi Agreement-2008).
